A hit-and-run accident Wednesday afternoon killed a man riding his bicycle in the westbound lanes of Oakland Park Boulevard near the railroad tracks along Interstate 95.
The collision happened in the block of 1500 West Oakland Park Boulevard. A nurse who witnessed the incident stopped to help the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by Oakland Park Fire and Rescue.
The victim was not immediately identified, and a description of the vehicle that hit him was not available.
“This is a well-traveled road and the incident was at a busy time. We’re hoping that someone saw something,” said Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mike Jachles.
